Circular Economy Offers Modernization for BiH Industry, Says Expert

Hanadi Džabić Frašto, CEO of RCB Nanotehnologija, highlighted the growing importance of sustainability for companies in European markets at the Balkan Green Summit 2026 in Sjenica. She showcased her company's method of restoring materials, like carbon black, for industrial re-use in products such as tires and plastics.

RCB Nanotehnologija is the first globally to restore carbon black with over 96 percent purity. This allows its application in demanding industries like automotive, supporting the tire industry's goal of full sustainability by 2050. Džabić Frašto stressed that circular economy models offer a tangible development path, enabling companies to address environmental challenges, build resilient operations, and strengthen market position.

For Bosnia and Herzegovina's industry, this represents a significant chance for modernization and growth. The value of recycled materials is especially high for companies dealing with the European market, where sourcing, emissions, and ESG standards influence business decisions. Early adopters of these solutions become more attractive partners and are better prepared for new regulations like CBAM.

Džabić Frašto noted increasing interest in a circular economy within BiH. However, she emphasized the need for better collaboration among industry, institutions, and academic bodies. To turn potential into a system, BiH requires stable cooperation mechanisms, quicker knowledge transfer, and a regulatory framework that supports future technologies. The Balkan Green Summit 2026, organized by the Chamber of Commerce of the Federation of BiH, focused on green policies and industrial transformation, gathering experts from across Southeast Europe.
