Court Rejects Mladić's Transfer to Serbia Despite Health Claims

The Hague court has again rejected a request to release war criminal Ratko Mladić to Serbia. His son, Darko Mladić, confirmed this decision. The court's reason was that better medical care in Serbia was not proven. His father’s health is unchanged, Darko Mladić said. The court stated in August that Mladić is in the "final stage of life." Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić also urged his release. Ratko Mladić was sentenced to life in June 2021. This was for genocide in Srebrenica. He was also convicted for persecuting Bosniaks and Croats, terrorizing Sarajevo, and taking UNPROFOR members hostage. The court has repeatedly denied early release due to health. They state Mladić gets all necessary treatment in the Netherlands.
