Efendić Honors War Heroes, Calls for Action to Build Bosnia's Future
Semir Efendić, leader of the Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina, spoke at the anniversary of the 182nd Knightly Foča Brigade. He honored the fallen soldiers. Efendić highlighted the brigade's key role in defending Bosnia and Herzegovina. They kept the Grepak route open and protected Goražde. He said these defenders fought for freedom and life. Their bravery saved the link to Goražde. It helped thousands of Bosniaks from eastern Bosnia to survive.
Efendić recalled the Proskok battle anniversary. The Foča Brigade surrounded Ratko Mladić's forces and destroyed a tank. Mladić himself later spoke about this fight. Efendić emphasized that society must remember the truth of the defense. He said the defenders of the country now have "tied hands." He called for untying them. He also called for restoring dignity and building the state they defended.
The Novi Grad Sarajevo Municipality now funds the 182nd Brigade's association. This helps them continue their work and keep memories alive. Efendić said that respect for defenders needs real actions. Thousands of people, including veterans and their families, attended the event.
