Reisul-ulema Kavazović Emphasizes Unity in Farewell Bajram Sermon
Reisul-ulema Husein-ef. Kavazović gave his Kurban-bajram sermon in Sarajevo. He spoke at the Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque. Kavazović called on believers to strengthen unity and trust. He said faith and devotion should guide society and peace. He urged people to move past divisions and deceit.
He highlighted the meaning of Kurban-bajram. Rituals like Hajj and Kurban teach sacrifice and thanks to God. He noted that true devotion brings brotherhood and solidarity. Kavazović also stressed protecting every person's life, honor, and property. He referred to Prophet Muhammad's Farewell Pilgrimage, which preached equality, respecting others' rights, and rejecting violence.
Kavazović announced this was his final Kurban-bajram address as Reisul-ulema. He asked people to protect "Bosnian komšiluk" (neighborliness). He said its foundation should be a neighbor's honor, seeking forgiveness, and offering pardon. He described neighborliness as a vital social structure that binds people together.
The sermon also gave thanks for life and peace in Bosnia. Kavazović mentioned living peacefully with neighbors, raising children, and helping those in need. He prayed for world peace. He described Bosnia as a country of good, honest, and noble people. He asked believers to follow these good people.
He advised cherishing life and acting responsibly. He repeated Prophet Muhammad's messages from the Farewell Pilgrimage. These included respecting life, property, and honor. They also called for returning trusts and ending old injustices. Prophet Muhammad taught that all believers are brothers. He said Arabs are not better than non-Arabs, except in devotion. Kavazović asked believers to live by these words. He urged them to sacrifice selfishness for love and trust, just as Ibrahim and Ismail did. This sacrifice brings people closer to God and to each other.
Kavazović ended by congratulating Muslims for Kurban-bajram. He addressed Muslims in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sandžak, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Macedonia, and the diaspora. He wished them peace and good health. He prayed for world peace and an end to suffering.
