Srebrenica Associations Condemn Official's Dismissal and Call for Legal Support
Several survivor associations have strongly condemned the dismissal of Faruk Đozić in Srebrenica. The local municipal assembly recently removed him from his post as head of the general administration department. Đozić lost 27 family members during the genocide. He also publicly criticized convicted war criminal Ratko Mladić.
The associations described his removal as political persecution. They stated that opposing war criminals should never cost someone their public service job. They also called the decision an attempt to silence Bosniaks in Srebrenica.
Đozić plans to fight his dismissal in court. Because of this, the survivor groups called on lawyers across Bosnia and Herzegovina to show solidarity. They asked legal experts to form a team and defend him free of charge. The groups believe this legal battle protects the rule of law and the dignity of all victims.
