UN Report Warns of De Facto Partition Efforts by Republika Srpska Leadership
The Office of the High Representative sent a new report to the United Nations Security Council. Acting High Representative Louis Crishock prepared the document. Authorities in Republika Srpska reacted with anger to its findings.
The report warns about ongoing political obstruction from the leadership of Republika Srpska. It notes that state institutions face severe blockades. These blockades affect the Council of Ministers and parliament. They cause funding delays and stop important appointments.
Republika Srpska authorities also ignore rulings from the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The document warns that these actions weaken the central state. The entity continues to build parallel structures. According to the report, these actions create a de facto separation from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The report also highlights Milorad Dodik. After recent elections, Dodik promised to continue his party policies. He wants to take back state powers in defense, border control, and taxation. He also announced plans for a new entity constitution on January 9. State courts previously ruled this holiday and similar constitutional moves illegal.
