Bosnian Court Confirms Indictment for Glorifying War Criminal Slobodan Praljak
The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed an indictment against Petar Barbarić. Authorities accuse him of glorifying convicted war criminal Slobodan Praljak.
Barbarić gave a speech at a cemetery in Čapljina. The speech took place after people revealed an illegal monument for Praljak. Several websites shared the speech online, and it received many views. Prosecutors charged Barbarić with inciting national, racial, and religious hatred.
The monument showed Praljak's face and called him a Croatian general. Investigators are still looking for the people who erected it. The Hague Tribunal sentenced Praljak to 20 years in prison in 2017 for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Bosnia and Herzegovina banned the glorification of war criminals and monuments dedicated to them in 2021.
