Bosnian Official Affirms Drina as State Border, Not Divisor

Džemal Smajić, a delegate in Bosnia and Herzegovina's Parliament, responded to Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić. Smajić stated that the smaller BiH entity is an administrative unit within a sovereign and independent Bosnia and Herzegovina. All citizens, including Bosnian Serbs, Bosniaks, and Bosnian Croats, hold equal rights there.

Smajić emphasized the Drina River is a deep historical and internationally recognized border between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia. He noted that people living on both sides of the Drina is not unusual, as rivers often mark state borders worldwide. Smajić added that attempts to challenge BiH's statehood with seemingly harmless statements no longer work. He concluded that Bosnia and Herzegovina is a European country seeking membership in the European Union and NATO. He urged Serbia's president to decide if his country will follow this Euro-Atlantic path.
