Election Commission Under Fire Over Lingering Vote Count Delays in Bosnia
Ten days have passed since the elections on October 4. The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina has still not counted all votes. This prolonged delay raises serious doubts about the final results, especially in tight races.
The commission has also failed to process mail-in ballots, absentee votes, and ballots from mobile teams. These counts should have taken only two days. Authorities introduced new ballot scanners to speed up the process and improve reliability. However, this technology failed to deliver the expected efficiency.
The public deserves clear answers about these technical issues. The election commission must explain the reasons for the delay and announce when the count will finish. Citizens voted on October 4 and expect timely, transparent results, said Almir Bečarević, president of KVSBIH Sarajevo.
