Igman Address: Reisul-ulema Kavazović Calls for Unity and Sacrifice for Bosnia

This would protect future generations from the hardships past generations faced. He stated that living in peace is the most important value people should seek.

Kavazović spoke further about the homeland. He said it is where people belong and is their home, no matter how far away they are. He taught that "Bosnia is not just a land, but an idea for which one lives." It is a place of sacrifice and freedom, valuable because it runs in their veins. Responsibility for the homeland means caring for people's safety and progress. It also means ensuring dignity, justice, equality, peace, harmony, understanding, and mutual respect.

In his sermon, Kavazović thanked God and remembered the sacrifices made on Igman. He reminded everyone of the difficult times when Igman was the only route for survival to besieged Sarajevo. He said that faith and determination to fight for life, freedom, and the homeland kept them strong then and now. Gathered on this historic clearing, people remembered those who died in battle on Igman and other Bosnian frontlines. Kavazović emphasized that they were there to renew their pledge to protect Bosnia from any enemy.

Decades have passed since Bosnian sons defended their homeland here. They knew rebuilding would be hard. They carried only faith and hope for peace. They rebuilt homes, raised children, and returned to ruined lands. Today, they must continue to live with this hope. They must ensure the country's safety to protect families from past hardships. Living in peace remains the greatest value.

The homeland is the most important place on Earth. Prophet Muhammad taught this when speaking of Mecca. Kavazović said the homeland is where people belong. It is where their home is, a feeling shared by all generations of Bosniaks. Bosnia is not just land; it is an idea for which people live. It is a place of sacrifice and freedom. Kavazović spoke of the need for responsibility for everyone's safety, progress, dignity, justice, and equality. It is also for peace, harmony, understanding, and respect. The struggle for the homeland's freedom and dignity continues, requiring God's help and human effort.

He urged everyone to remain vigilant guards of the homeland. He warned against those who try to cause divisions, hatred, and enmity. These actions weaken people and make them vulnerable. He said Muslims should hold fast to the Quran, the teachings of Prophet Muhammad, and the Muslim community. He identified envy and discord as two harmful diseases that enemies exploit. He called for people to avoid these poisons.
