Komšić Declares Vlašić a 'Bosnian Cap,' Reflects on War Legacy

Željko Komšić, a member of the BiH Presidency, spoke at a recent event. He felt both pride and sadness. Pride for past successes, and sadness for the lives lost and suffering during the war.

Komšić recalled the difficult start of the 1992 war. He noted that the Army of RBiH and MUP RBiH grew stronger. By 1994, it was a well-organized army. He called the liberation of Vlašić a crucial early victory, essential for freeing Krajina. Komšić suggested the Army of RBiH could have liberated the whole country without international intervention.

He praised soldiers and commanders for their heroic efforts, saying ordinary people became heroes. Komšić trusts today's youth to defend BiH, noting they are better equipped now. He addressed "enemies of this country," stating that in 1992, they expected to win. Instead, he said, "we took off their cap of Republika Srpska. That is now a Bosnian cap," referencing the strategic Vlašić plateau.

Komšić observed that people's main concern today is BiH's security. He concluded that such events encourage future leaders to be persistent and trust their people during challenges.
