Zelenskyy's Belgrade Visit Triggers Serbian Media Shift and Political Rethink
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made his first official visit to Belgrade. This visit led to a sudden shift in how Serbian pro-government media reported. These media, under President Vučić's control, had long criticized Zelenskyy. They used to call him a "Western puppet" and other harsh names. But after his visit, they quickly stopped the insults and began praising him.
Aleksandar Olenik, Vice President of LSV-Vojvođani, commented on Zelenskyy's visit. He said it revealed the complete failure of Serbia's media and propaganda. Olenik noted that tabloids like Informer suddenly began to write positive stories about Zelenskyy. This shows that these media simply broadcast whatever their owners want.
Regarding the bigger political picture, Serbia has been indirectly sending ammunition to Ukraine since Russia's war began. This support has helped Ukraine's military efforts. There are also early talks about a joint drone factory in Serbia. These actions suggest Serbia is now taking Ukraine's side. This shift is a big blow to the radical voters of the Serbian Progressive Party. Vučić is signaling a new course, as he understands Russia is losing the war. Supporting Ukraine has become more politically practical for the Serbian government.
