Activist Fined Over Bosnian Flag Photo, Plans Court Fight

Aličković informed the public on social media about a fine he received. The fine is related to a photo he posted on Instagram. The photo showed the flag of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina with lilies.

Police said the image disturbed public order and caused public unrest. The photo was taken while people were praying the noon prayer and a funeral prayer for victims. Aličković stated he would use the fine notice as a basis for a court decision.

He plans to challenge the police's claims in court in Prijedor. Aličković offered several arguments against the fine. He questioned if the flag in the photo was even his. He also noted that the prayer happened on land owned by the Islamic Community.

He pointed out that other flags with lilies are located very close to where the photo was taken. One such flag is at a martyr's cemetery. Another is on a building belonging to the Islamic Community. Aličković said he will present these arguments in court.

He added that this is not his first time facing police and courts in the RS entity. He mentioned winning similar cases in Derventa and Doboj before. As of now, the RS Interior Ministry has not publicly responded to Aličković's statements.
