Major EUFOR Exercise Set for Bosnia and Herzegovina

EUFOR's annual "Quick Response 2026" exercise will take place across Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) from August 22 to September 3. EUFOR Commander Major General Maurizio Fronda held a press conference. He was joined by BiH Deputy Minister of Security Ivica Bošnjak and BiH Armed Forces Chief of Joint Staff Lieutenant General Gojko Knežević. His deputies, Major General Mirsad Ahmić and Major General Tomo Kolenda, also attended.

The exercise will involve EUFOR military personnel from 24 countries. Reserve forces from eight European nations will temporarily join them. The BiH Armed Forces and local law enforcement agencies will also support the exercise. The goal is to show EUFOR's readiness. It also confirms EUFOR's commitment to keeping BiH safe and stable. General Fronda stated that EUFOR can monitor events and respond properly through its presence and cooperation with local authorities.

From August 22 to September 3, BiH citizens will see more troop movements, patrols, and equipment. Helicopters from reserve forces will also move across the country. Key areas include Sarajevo, Mostar, Bijeljina, Tuzla, Višegrad, Trebinje, Čapljina, Drvar, Laktaši, Livno, Manjača, Krčmarice, and some border crossings. Some activities may be large or happen at night. EUFOR aims to minimize public impact. Local authorities and residents will be informed about nearby movements. EUFOR sees itself as a strong and reliable partner for BiH. It supports BiH authorities in maintaining a secure environment.
