Media Watchdog Probes RTRS Over Srebrenica Victim Slander

Bosnia and Herzegovina's Regulatory Agency for Communications (RAK) has opened a case against Radio-Television of Republika Srpska (RTRS). This followed a joint complaint from five associations representing genocide victims. The groups accused RTRS of airing a report on July 31, 2026, which contained severe insults and false claims against Srebrenica survivors and Mothers. The report reportedly suggested victims were making money from their tragedy.

RAK confirmed it would investigate, focusing on whether RTRS violated Article 8 of the media code, which ensures the right to reply. The victim associations noted RTRS did not contact them before the broadcast. This goes against basic journalistic rules. The associations have also reported the matter to the Press and Online Media Council in Bosnia and Herzegovina. They expect RAK to act quickly and impose harsh legal penalties on RTRS to protect victims' dignity.
