Mostar Company Director Defends Dismissals Amid Inspection Reversal

Jadranka Senkić, the director of Mostar’s Public Enterprise Komunalno, has addressed recent events at the company. She spoke about workers whose temporary contracts were not extended and the company's new job advertisements. Senkić explained that 14 new positions were opened because of a staff shortage in the operational-technical department. This shortage arose after many fixed-term workers, mainly from that sector, did not have their contracts renewed in July.

Some of these workers sought help from authorities. The Cantonal Inspection of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton reviewed the situation. It then reversed the dismissals for the Bosniak workers and ordered them to return to their jobs. Senkić stated that she believes outside pressures influenced the process. However, she maintained that all her decisions were lawful and made for the benefit of the public enterprise. When asked if she would repeat her actions despite these developments, Senkić confirmed she would. She emphasized that all her decisions followed the law and served the company’s best interests.
