Prophet Muhammad's Birth Honored in Sarajevo Ceremony

A central Mawlid ceremony took place today in the Gazi Husrev-bey Mosque in Sarajevo. This event followed the midday prayer. It was part of the "Selam, ya Resulallah" manifestation. This manifestation marks the birth of Prophet Muhammad. Imams from the Islamic Community in Sarajevo and the Gazi Husrev-bey Mosque led the program.

Hafiz Mensur-ef. Malkić, director of the Religious Affairs Administration of the Rijaset of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, welcomed the attendees. Malkić stated that the central Mawlid is a traditional event in Sarajevo. Imams and other Islamic Community representatives take part. He stressed the importance of believers gathering to honor Allah's Prophet, Muhammad. Malkić reminded the audience of a Quranic verse. It calls believers to send blessings upon the Prophet. He explained that through blessings, believers show love and respect for Muhammad. This also brings them closer to Allah. He urged people to seek Allah's help by sending blessings and learning about the Prophet. This would bring ease and protection from difficulties in life.

Dr. Abdulgafar-ef. Velić, chief imam of the Islamic Community in Sarajevo, also spoke. He highlighted the program's significance for Sarajevo and the Islamic Community. Velić noted that such gatherings are part of a long tradition. Mawlids are held in homes and mosques. People gather, read Mawlid, and share food. This nurtures Bosnian Muslim tradition and culture. Velić described Mawlid days as times of tradition, pure faith, and love. This love is for the Creator, the Prophet, and all people. He said these days are blessed. They remind believers of their connection to Prophet Muhammad and his values. Velić emphasized that Muhammad's Sunnah is the path Muslims should follow. It guides their lives and the upbringing of new generations. He said there is no other correct path for Muslims and their children.

Professor Dr. Safvet Halilović then gave a lecture. He spoke about remembering Prophet Muhammad's life and mission. He also spoke about prophethood as a great blessing from Allah. Halilović noted that people often do not realize the countless blessings they receive daily. He reminded everyone of a Quranic message. It says Allah sent a Prophet to believers to teach them and guide them. Halilović explained that "ayat" in the Quran mostly means signs of Allah's power. The Prophet came to explain these signs and show what is good. Remembering Prophet Muhammad is a key way to thank Allah. Halilović stated that without the Prophet's guidance and the Quran, people would not know how to use other blessings correctly. He stressed that humanity needs the moral and spiritual guidance Muhammad brought. Halilović urged attendees to learn about the Prophet's life and be true followers. He concluded that without Muhammad's guidance, human life lacks meaning. He noted that believers trust in Judgment Day and must follow the Prophet's path.

The ceremony ended with messages. These messages encouraged strengthening love for Prophet Muhammad. They also reminded people to recall the values of his life and Sunnah.
