Veterans, families, and officials gathered in Sarajevo to mark the 33rd anniversary of Operation Trebevic 2. The memorial took place in Veliki Park. Delegations laid flowers and held a minute of silence. They honored nine fallen members of the Military Police and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The operation took place on October 26, 1993. President Alija Izetbegovic ordered the mission. Its goal was to restore order and disarm rogue groups within the military ranks. Nine officers lost their lives during the action.
Six of the fallen men, including Captain Kemal Kojic, rest in Veliki Park. Kojic was born in Plav and lived in Sarajevo. He received the Golden Lily for his wartime bravery. Delegations also visited the Sveti Marko and Bare cemeteries to pay respect to the other fallen officers.
